HAMPSON, Alfred A. - A native of Portland, Oregon born December 9, 1920, died at home in San Francisco of natural causes February 18, 2002. He was educated at the Hill School in Pennsylvania, Stanford University, where he was editor of the Stanford Daily, and Harvard Law School. After practicing law in San Francisco at Brobeck Phlegar & Harrison, he returned to Portland where he practiced for many years before retiring to the Bay Area. He was a member of the Bohemian Club. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, a daughter and son-in-law, Cuyler and Brian Kidney of Kentfield, and four sons--Griffin and Blair of Portland, Brooks of Seattle, and Dirk and his wife Charlotte of St. Helena, as well as seven grandchildren. At a later date, there will be a memorial celebration of his life in Portland. Because of his deep interest in the environment, his family suggests that donations in his memory be made to The Nature Conservancy of Oregon, 821 S.E. 14th Avenue, Portland, OR 97214.
