DAVID BARTHOLOW

David Bartholow of San Anselmo, a building contractor in Marin for 25 years, died Tuesday at his home after a short illness. He was 75.

Mr. Bartholow, who was born in Iowa, came to California during the Depression to work on a gold mining crew. He had lived in Marin for 52 years.

He founded Bartholow & Co., a local contracting firm that specialized in residential work. In 1967, he passed his company on to his son, Larry Bartholow.

Mr. Bartholow was a member of the Marin Builders Exchange and was founder and president of the Sheetmetal Association of the North Bay.

He also was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 556 in Fairfax.

Mr. Bartholow is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, Larry Bartholow of San Rafael; a daughter, Betty Huddleston of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.

His family asked that memorial contributions go to Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael.
