Marques A. Lauff
Marques A. Lauff, a retired rancher, passed away at his Bolinas home yesterday after a lengthy illness. He was 74 years old.
A native of Bolinas, he received nurse’s training at the Lane Hospital in San Francisco and was later at the Mare Island hospital during his navy career at the time of the Spanish-American War. He was the first registered male nurse in Marin County.
As a young man he had made his home in San Francisco where he was engaged in the real estate business until 1915 when he purchased a ranch in Marysville. He later retired to Bolinas. His mother was born in Monterey, a member of a pioneer California family. He was the husband of the late Mamie Lauff and brother of Mrs. Caroline Knott and the late Oscar, George and Fred Lauff, Mrs. Valentine Gosliner and Mrs. Julia MacKenzie.
The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Keaton’s mortuary where funeral services will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. A mass will be offered at 10 a.m. for the repose of his soul at the Bolinas Catholic church and interment will be at the Bolinas Catholic cemetery.
