RALPH TALBOT

Col. Ralph Talbot III, 51, of 12 Hunt Road, Terra Linda, died Wednesday in a San Francisco hospital of a heart attack – the same day his retirement from the Army after 30 years service became effective.

Talbot, who was born in Tennessee, lived in Marin County since 1959. He was head of supply for the Fifteenth Corps at the Presidio of San Francisco.

A graduate of West Point, Talbot served in World War II as a tank commander in t he Third Army. He also served in the Korean War and was the first chief of the military aid mission to Montevideo, Uruguay.

He was a charter member of the Terra-Marin Memorial Post 2660, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of Camp Knox Lodge 919, Free and Accepted Masons and Golden Gate Chapter No. 18, National Sojourners.

Talbot is survived by his wife, Colleen; three sons and one daughter, Capt. Ralph Talbot IV of Germany, George Talbot of Texas, Pfc. Robert P. Talbot of Louisiana and Mrs. Carol Gaddy of San Francisco; a sister, Mrs. C. B. Mitchell of Virginia, and his father, Brig. Gen. Ralph Talbot Jr. (ret.) of Washington, D.C.

Funeral services will be held Monday, at 1:30 p.m. at the Post Chapel, Presidio of San Francisco. Burial will be in San Francisco National Cemetery at the Presidio. The family prefers that tributes be contributed to Shriners Hospital.
