Soldier Killed On Gate Bridge

Ed McMullen, 30-year-old National Guardsman, on duty at the Golden Gate bridge, fell to his death today noon, when he tripped on the anchorage block on the Marin side of the span and landed on a concrete slab 85 feet below.

He was stationed at Fort Baker, and was a member of Co. K, 1st Regiment, California National Guard, and had been in the service about two months.

The body was brought to San Rafael this afternoon and Coroner J. Ray Keaton says an inquest will be held later. He said it was an accident.

McMullen has no known relatives in this vicinity. His residence address is in San Francisco.
