Sister Mary John Drascovich
Sister Mary John Drascovich, a member of the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael and a retired elementary school teacher, died yesterday at Dominican College infirmary in San Rafael after a long illness. She was 92.
Sister Drascovich, born Vivian Drascovich, was a native of Stockton, who joined the order in 1920.
She taught in parochial elementary schools in Northern California and Nevada from 1922 to 1955, including three years in San Rafael, 1930-33.
In 1955 she was assigned to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton and remained there until last year when she returned to San Rafael.
Surviving are five nieces, Marjorie Keys and Catherine Ann Meyer, both of Stockton; Lois Boscacci of San Jose; and Ann Chittenden and Georgia Shuster, both of Los Gatos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Convent Chapel, Stockton. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Dominican College Chapel, San Rafael. Burial will be at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, Stockton.
