Clarence Vogensen Dies At 50

Clarence Vogensen, 50, supervisor of buildings and grounds for the Novato Unified School District, died last night, apparently from a heart attack, while on vacation at Lake Pillsbury in Lake County.

Vogensen and his wife, Virginia, of 100 Paladini Road, Novato, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Ridgeway of 710 Orange Avenue, Novato, were camping at the lake when he became ill about 8 p.m., according to the Mendocino County sheriff’s office at Ukiah. Vogensen was taken to Ukiah General Hospital by ambulance, but was dead on arrival.

He had worked for the Novato School District since 1952, in charge of the maintenance of all buildings and grounds. Prior to that he had worked for Pacific Gas and Electric Co., done carpentry and ranch maintenance.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Joseph and Ray, both in college, and Robert in West Novato School, and a daughter, Susan, in Novato High School.

The body was taken to Eversole Mortuary in Ukiah where an autopsy was to be performed today, according to the sheriff. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Redwood Chapel Funeral Home in Novato.
