Another Oldtimer Passes Away
We note the death last week in San Francisco of Mrs. Annie M. Spiller, sister of Chas. S. Barney and one of the pioneer women of Marin county. Old residents of the county will recall Mrs. Spiller.
Born in Fredrick, Md., in 1845, she came to California with the family of Judge Ai Barney in 1855. The family then comprised five children. She spent some of her earlier life as a school teacher. Her brother, Jerome A. Barney was the founder of this paper. Later moving to San Francisco she married and that city remained her residence up to the time of her death. She succumbed to kidney disease, with which she had been afflicted for some years.
Her surviving relations are her brother, Chas. S. Barney, her nephew, Roy Barney, and a niece, Miss Bernice Holms.
