San Rafael Man Dies From Injuries
Harold C. Clifford, a resident of San Rafael since boyhood, graduate of the local schools and of the University of California, died last night at the St. Francis Hospital from injuries received early yesterday morning when a chemical mixture he was compounding at his place of employment exploded.
Clifford was employed as a chemist at the plant of the Hill-Hubbell Paint and Varnish Company in San Francisco. Another man, employed as a laborer, was badly burned about the face and hands by the same explosion.
Clifford was well known here. He resided with his family on the Reservoir Road. Mrs. Clifford, the former Miss Grace Davenport, is ill in bed and has not been informed of the tragedy.
The remains were brought over ____(illegible line)____ ments for the funeral will be made later. In his school and college days he was a noted athlete. He was about 38 years of age.
