JOHN F. JORDAN
Pioneer, Summoned

Death, which had been expected for the past week, today claimed John Frederick Jordan, one of San Rafael’s oldest and best known residents.

Coming here is 1876 as a retired florist, he established the Jordan House, which became soon afterwards a social center as well as a widely known hostelry. Under the management of Mr. Jordan and his wife it prospered for many years. Upon their retirement the hotel name was changed to The Parkside.

Mrs. Jordan preceded her husband in death by several years, and since that time he has made his home with his foster daughter, Mrs. E. B. Martinelli, and her husband, Senator Martinelli.

The later years of his life were comforted by his grandchildren of whom he was inordinately fond, Genevieve C., Emma P., Jordan L. and Ennio H. Martinelli.

The deceased was a native of Scotland and 81 years of age.

The funeral will be held at the Martinelli residence Sunday, under the direction of Dr. F. E. Sawyer.
