TERRY, BURTON S. - Age 79 passed away April 25, 2002 after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. A Mill Valley, CA resident and a native Chicagoan, Burt was a trial lawyer for 20 years before becoming Director of The Legal Aid Bureau of Chicago for an additional 12 years. During WWII, he served as an officer and combat pilot in the 8th Air Force European Theatre of Operations. In 1990 and 1995 he was a guest of the Dutch Government and honored for piloting food drop missions to save Dutch civilians from starvation. Burt received many awards for his humanitarian efforts, but remained a humble, warm, generous and humorous gentleman. Family and Friends were the important things in life to him. His wife, Donna, was blessed with 51 years of love and devotion in their marriage. His daughter, Ellyn, always knew she had "The Best" with her Dad. Other family members with loving memories include his son, Glenn (Nancy), sister, LaVerne Gardberg, son-in-law, David Gardner, grandchildren, Katharine and Jennifer, and extended family in Chicago, N.Y., California. At Burt's' request, services were private. Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel 270 Miller Ave., Mill Valley 415-388-1573
