Donald Eugene Wallace
Donald E. Wallace of Tiburon, CA passed away on April 7, 2002 at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife Betty R. Wallace, daughter Judith R. Onton and husband Aare, and son Donald E. Wallace, Jr., wife Deborah, and their daughters Hattie and Amy. Don Wallace was a retired TWA captain with 30 years of service with the airline. He served in the US Navy in World War II and started his flying career with instruction at Kenmore Air Harbor near Seattle on the GI Bill. His first experience as a pilot was for the US Coast and Geodetic Survey in Alaska. Don was born in Spokane, WA on Sept. 25, 1924, the son of Athol G. Wallace and Hattie L. Collard Wallace. Don loved flying as his vocation and avocation. After retirement he was an owner of Commodore Seaplanes. He also owned a Seabee amphibious plane which he landed in front of his beloved beach cottage at Gig Harbor, WA. He loved to spend time there renewing his Washington heritage. That location turned into a focal point for reunions with all of his family and friends. He will be remembered at 1 pm, on Saturday, April 13, 2002 in a celebration of life memorial at the Commodore Center (SF Seaplane Base), 242 Redwood Hwy, Mill Valley, CA. All friends of Don's are invited.
