HIRAM LEWIS, 64, Long Time Marin Resident, Passes

VINCENT M. "HIRAM" LEWIS, resident of Marin County for 36 years and longtime machinist with the Lafargue garage of San Anselmo, died today at a local hospital after a short illness. He was 64.

Lewis, born in 1884 in Oakland, grew up with the automobile industry as an employee of the above San Anselmo firm for 35 years. he lived at Tamalpais Avenue, San Anselmo.

Lewis was known among his associates as an industrious and reliable gentleman. As a person with a knack for mechanics, he always was called upon as the neighborhood "handy man". During World War II, he served as Fire Warden for San Anselmo.

His wife, Edna Lewis, has managed the San Anselmo branch of Albert's for the past 15 years. Mansfield Lewis, his son, is the Chief Radio Technician for Radio KSRC in Marin.

Lewis is survived by his widow and son.

Friends are invited to attend funeral services Tuesday, March 9, 1948, at 11 a.m. at the Harry M. Williams Mortuary, Third Street and E, San Rafael. Inurnment Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland.
