Jimps Off Jitney And Is Killed
Laundryworker Steps From Moving Car and Meets Instant Death in Fall
A number of people witnessed the accident Tuesday evening near Fourth and D streets which caused the death of Casimir Brunanchon, an employee of the French laundry near that corner.
Brunanchon was returning from Fairfax as a passenger with Manuel King, a jitney driver. The machine was crowded and Brunanchon was standing on the running board. As the car drew near the curb and before it came to a stop, it is reported by witnesses, Brunanchon jumped off. According to people who saw it, he seemed to lose his balance. He fell, striking his head on the pavement and rolling under the wheels of the machine. The car passed over him. Bystanders removed the body immediately to the laundry and the physicians called pronounced the man head. He was almost instantly killed.
Brunanchon was about 35 years of age and was unmarried. He had been employed by the laundry firm for some time. Coroner Sawyer took charge of the remains and will hold an inquest.
