VIRGINIA D. TRAVIS
Virginia Duncan Travis, a longtime Terra Linda resident, died Friday, April 29, 1988, at Care West-Bayside Convalescent Hospital in Greenbrae at the age of 97.
Mrs. Travis was born in St. Joseph, Mo. She came to California with her husband, the Rev. William Turton Travis, in 1958. Mr. Travis died earlier.
Mrs. Travis was a registered nurse, who served with the American Red Cross during the devastating post-World War I influenza epidemic. During World War II, she was director of volunteers for the Red Cross in the Chicago area.
After she and her husband moved to California, he spent his retirement years working in parochial and institutional ministries with the Episcopal Diocese of California.
Mrs. Travis is survived by her daughter, Victoria Travis Ford of Terra Linda, her sister, Mrs. Tad Leitzell of Evanson (sic), Ill., and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ross. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery in St. Joseph. The family prefers memorial contributions to Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, or a favorite charity.
