THOMAS M. DUGAN
Railroad investigator
Thomas M. Dugan, a former railroad company investigator and longtime Marin resident, died unexpectedly Jan. 1, 1990, in the Philippines while visiting a son. He was 80.
Mr. Dugan was born in San Francisco. He moved to Mill Valley in 1940 and a year ago to Corte Madera.
He worked for 43 year as a special investigator for the Southern Pacific Railroad Co., retiring in 1972.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Airline and Railway Clerks.
Mr. Dugan was one of the founding members of the Alto Volunteer Fire Department in the late 1940s and served as a reserve Marin County deputy sheriff.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. Dugan of Corte Madera and Elmo G. Dugan of the Philippines; a sister, Marie Kelley of San Mateo; two brothers, Michael Duggan (sic) of Santa Rosa and John Duggan (sic) of Meadow Vista, Placer County; and three grandchildren. His wife, Elizabeth, died in November 1986.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mill Valley. Burial will be private. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley. Visitation at the mortuary will be after 2 p.m. Thursday.
His family prefers memorial donations to the Marin chapter of the American Heart Association.

A Death Notice in the same paper mentions his grandchildren: Gerald E., Reberto Gemma and Elmo Dugan Jr.; he was the father-in-law of Lydia Dugan of the Phillipines.
