EDNA MAE KAENEL
A funeral for Edna Mae Kaenel of Redwood City, a former longtime Marin resident and real estate banker, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.
Mrs. Kaenel died Saturday, July 23, 1988, at a nursing home in Menlo Park. She was 93.
She was born in Oakland and moved to Marin as a teenager. She later lived in Elko, Nev., where she owned and ran a beauty shop.
Returning to Marin, she married George V. Kaenel, owner of Tamarin Realty Associates in San Rafael and a former owner of the Alta Mira Hotel in Sausalito.
Mr. and Mrs. Kaenel worked many years as real estate brokers in San Rafael. They retired and moved to Santa Rosa in 1969.
Mrs. Kaenel moved to Napa and recently lived with her daughter in Redwood City.
She was active in the Order of Eastern Star and belonged to San Rafael Chapter No. 215. Mrs. Kaenel was also a member of the White Shrine, another Masonic group.
She was an avid angler.
Her survivors include a son, Clinton “Don” Duffy of Mill Valley; two daughters, Lois McCarthy of Redwood City and Verna Zirkel of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Milton Crosby of Santa Rosa; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Kaenel died in 1978.
Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
