The funeral of Mrs. Daisy B. Lawton, beloved Marin County educator, Tuesday at 2 o’clock at the parlors of Keaton and Dusel, was attended by many former pupils and those whom she had met in her many years in the public service field.

For nearly thirty-five years she was a member of the Marin County School Department. Her first school in the county was in the Sausalito District. She was there just a short time and in July 1893 was transferred to the Tomales Grammar School as primary teacher.

In December 1904 she was made principal. In July 1905 she was elected a member of the Board of Education and served on it until June, 1921. She remained as principal of the Tomales School until January 1921 when she resigned to become rural supervisor. She was forced by ill health to give up this work in June 1927. She has been ill at the home of her sister, Mrs. H. E. Parker in San Rafael and died Sunday night.

The flag on the court house was placed at half mast in respect to her memory and on all schools throughout the county.

Rev. O. M. Temple conducted the funeral service. Mrs. Lenora Niverson sang, “Saved by Grace” and “The City Foursquare”. The honorary pallbearers were J. B. Davidson, Marin County Superintendent of Schools, W. O. Sharp, Sausalito superintendent of schools, Bert Hewitt, Petaluma educator and Neil McPhail. The pallbearers were her three nephews, Marshall, Dudley and Myron McCamish and John McPhail. Interment was made in Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.

She was the mother of Mrs. H. J. Blacklidge of Tucson, Arizona, who rushed north when she heard of her mother’s serious illness. She arrived Saturday night with her small daughter, Harriett.
