Funeral Services Set Tomorrow For Rose Whiting

Funeral services will be held tomorrow for Mrs. Rose Whiting, 88, pioneer resident of Tiburon who died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Noziglia, in Pittsburg.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Keaton’s in San Rafael with the Pythian Sisters in charge. Interment will be in Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.

Daughter of August Heebner, a native of Germany, Mrs. Whiting resided in Tiburon all her life until four years ago, when she went to live with her daughter in the East Bay.

Her memory extended back to the early days of Southern Marin.

She knew the Reid family and remembered when the railroad came to Tiburon in 1882.

Mrs. Whiting was an active member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, the original St. Stephen’s Guild and the old Tiburon Mother’s Club.

Mrs. Whiting’s husband, William, died in 1931. They had 11 children, of whom seven survive. They are Mrs. Noziglia, Mrs. Ruby Clark of Lansing, Mich., Roscoe Whiting of Albion, Mich., Charles Whiting of Larkspur, Walter of Woodacre, John of Fairfax and William of Long Beach.

Ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.
