Duck Hunter Meets Accidental Death

The body of Adrian Murray, the 18 year old son of James Murray, a plumbers’ supply dealer of San Francisco, was found dead beside a skiff in which he had started hunting for ducks last Wednesday afternoon near San Clemente. His shotgun, which had been accidentally discharged, sending a load of duck shot into his heart, was found beside him.

Murray is believed by Coroner F. E. Sawyer, to have been shot while drawing his shotgun from the boat with the muzzle pointed at him.

Murray lived with his mother and father at Larkspur. When Mrs. Murray was notified of her son’s terrible death, [she] was prostrated, and the services of a physician were required.

The body was found by Jacob James and Peter Kendall, of Corte Madera, who were going in a small boat from California City. After ascertaining that the young man was dead, they hurried to the nearest town and notified the coroner, who went immediately to the scene.
