LESTER J. CALENDER DIES AT 81
Lester J. Calender, retired San Francisco business executive who had lived in Mill Valley for 20 yeas, died yesterday in a local hospital after a short illness. He was 81.
Calender was born and reared in San Francisco. He was a graduate of the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md. And served with the Navy during World War I.
His business career including (sic) working as sales manager for MJB Coffee, as a stock broker for E. F. Hutton Co. and finally, for many years, as sales manager for U.S. Fidelity and Guarantee Co.
When he retired about 20 years ago, Calender moved to Marin.
He was a member of the California Greys and also was a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred S. Calender of the family home at 295 Corte Madera Road; two sons, Clayton D. Calender of Belvedere and Richard S. Calender of Pacific Palisades, and six grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Halstead and Co., San Francisco.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
