BURKHARDT – Frank William, aged 74 years, passed away in his sleep at home in San Rafael, Oct. 31, 1987. Mr. Burkhardt, a third generation San Franciscan, was the grandson of early day pioneers. Loving father of Cathleen M. Kuzmanich and grandson, Justin; brother of Edna M. Kelly of Long Beach, and the late Dorothy C. Frost; uncle of Lynn Hensen and grandnephew Jack of Southern California. Mr. Burkhardt attended old Twin Peaks Grammar, Polytechnic High School, St. Mary’s College and Santa Clara University. He was an all-city champion football player in 1932, played in college and enjoyed supporting the game all of his life. He honorably served in the United State Navy during the years 1943-1945 and was an active member of the Carpet and Linoleum Layers Union for over 40 years. At his request, the service is private. The family is very grateful for many kindnesses extended by Hospice Society of Marin.
