On Saturday night George Leary, an officer at San Quentin Prison, died suddenly. He drove to Kentfield to meet Warden and Mrs. Hoyle who were returning home from the city on the last train. Just after starting from the station, Mrs. Hoyle suggested that she would drive. Leary leaned forward, and a minute later plunged still further forward, when Mrs. Hoyle called him by name, asking what was the matter. There was no response and investigation revealed the fact that the man was dead. He was a native of California, aged 48 years, and for some time had been employed at the prison. He was a member of the San Rafael Lodge of Redmen. The remains were shipped to Sacramento accompanied by his brother-in-law, Mr. McLaughlin, who is an engineer on the steamer Solano.
