EDWARD O. BEAL
Pool builder
Edward O. Beal of Greenbrae died Friday, Aug. 17, 1990, at The Tamalpais retirement home in Greenbrae at the age of 87.
He was born in Norwich, Kan., and came to San Francisco when he was 17. Ten years ago, he moved to The Tamalpais.
Mr. Beal was president of Cement Gun Construction Co. that had operated 30 years in Sausalito before moving to Richmond in 1980. In 1988, his son, Norman Beal, dissolved the firm. It was known especially for building swimming pools.
Mr. Beal was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Norwich and was an avid sports enthusiast.
“He loved the 49ers and Giants,” said Norman Beal of Larkspur. “He’d go every chance he got.”
Survivors, in addition to his son, are his wife, Alice Beal, and four grandchildren.
Private services are planned. Burial will be in Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma.
The family prefers memorial donations to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
