ALVIN J. FIELDS

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alvin J. Fields of Petaluma, a former Marin resident, will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Petaluma.

Mr. Fields died Saturday, Nov. 12, 1988, at home in Petaluma after a lengthy illness. He was 69.

He was born and reared in Petaluma, where his family were early settlers. He served in the Army in World War II and returned to live in Novato. He owned and operated the Yellow Cab Co. in Novato from 1947 to 1960.

Mr. Fields later worked for auto dealers in Marin. He also worked in maintenance for the Novato School District for 14 years before retiring in 1980.

He lived in Marin 1947 until 1977, when he returned to Petaluma.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Petaluma Moose Lodge, Sons in Retirement, Sebastopol Holy Ghost Society, Retired Public Employees Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.

He is survived by his wife, Estella M. Fields of Petaluma.

Recitation of the rosary will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma. Friends may call there after 9 a.m. Friday. Entombment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Petaluma.

The family prefers that contributions go to Hospice of Petaluma, 415 A St., Petaluma, 94952, or to American Cancer Society, Sonoma County Unit, 826 St. Helena Ave., Santa Rosa, 95404.
