ROBIN GIDDINS
Mill Valley second-grader
Robin Giddins of Mill Valley died Friday, Oct. 26, 1990, at home following a 15-month bout with cancer. She was 6.
Robin was in the second grade at Old Mill School.
She never complained through a series of difficult and painful medical procedures at the University of California-San Francisco Medical Center, becoming an inspiration to numerous people at the hospital.
“She was only 6 but she touched so many people in so many ways,” said her father, Michael Giddins of Mill Valley. “What she did in her short life of 6. I know people who are 70 that haven’t been able to accomplish that.
“She was a fighter. She’s a terrific kid – an inspiration of life. I’m very proud that I’m her father.”
Robin’s final days included a special bonus. She and her family took a 10-day trip with her family to Disneyland, an experience arranged through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her mother, Michelle Giddins; and her adopted grandmother, Jean Colton of Belvedere.
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Robin’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Belvedere Park off San Rafael Avenue.
The family prefers memorial contributions to child Life Services, the U.C. Regents, c/o Adrienne Burton, L171, UCSF, 505 Parnassus Ave., San Francisco, CA 94143.
Arrangements were handled by Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel.
