HELEN S. WEST
A private funeral will be held for Helen S. West of Tiburon, a seven [?] year Marin resident who died Monday in a local hospital after a long illness. She was 88.
A native of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. West had lived in California since 1913. Her late husband, Victor, was a political science professor at Stanford University until his death in 1927.
Mrs. West, who lived many years in Palo Alto, was a clerical worker for 10 years with the Palo Alto school system. She also served on the resident staff of Wellesley College in Massachusetts and Mills College in Oakland.
She was a longtime volunteer worker for the Boy Scouts of America.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Frederick H. Hawes and Mrs. George J. Coleman, both of Belvedere and Mrs. Glenn Schneider of Carmel; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial gifts preferred to the Victor J. West Memorial Library, Stanford University or to charity.
