Westphal Services Tomorrow
Funeral for Adolph Russ Westphal, 71, formerly of Ross, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Halstead and Co., 1123 Sutter Street, San Francisco.
Westphal, a prominent Bay Area businessman, died Sunday in a San Francisco hospital after a short illness.
A native of San Francisco, Westphal was a son of the founder of Merchant’s Ice and Storage Co. and himself rose to vice-president of the firm, retiring in 1939.
He was descended from two pioneer families, the Westphals, who came from Germany in 1850, and the Russ family, who arrived in San Francisco in 1847.
He lived for many years in Ross, having moved to 1333 Jones Street, San Francisco, recently.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Westphal; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Dunn of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mrs. Gloria Ryan of Minneapolis, Minn., and five grandchildren.
Burial will be in Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma.
