Alto Death Trap Claims Life of William G. Clerc
William G. H. Clerc, 59 year old resident of Alto, was killed Tuesday evening about 5:30 as he attempted to drive his car across the highway and was hit by a south bound truck driven by Angelo Costo of Healdsburg.
Clerc, according to Coroner Keaton, was moving west from the Tiburon road to the Mill Valley highway when he met his death. Responsibility for the accident has not been fixed.
Mr. Clerc, a distiller, had been in the employ of the Mason Distillery for many years. He is a native of England, and had lived in this county for about forty years.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Amy Clerc; two daughters – Mrs. May Keegan of San Anselmo and Mrs. Beatrice Sokolik, residing at Alto. A son, Stanley, passed away some years ago.
Funeral service will be held Friday afternoon from the Russell Funeral Parlor, Mill Valley, followed by interment in Mt. View Cemetery, Oakland.
