LLOYD BROOKS

Lloyd C. Brooks, 84, retired labor official, died yesterday at his home at 84 Marinita Avenue, San Rafael, after a long illness.

He was born in Round Valley, Inyo County, and graduated from the University of California in 1913. He served in the Army during World War I.

For many yeas he worked for Marin County Milk Co. He joined the Hodcarriers Construction and General Laborer’s Union Local 291 as recording secretary in 1937. He was elected president in 1941 and assistant business representative in 1946. He was secretary-treasurer from 1948 to until he retired in July 1963.

He was on the executive board of the Marin Central Labor council for more than 25 years. He also served on the executive board for the California Building and Construction Trades Council for 12 years until he retired. He was on the Committee of Political Education.

In addition to the union, he was a member of Knights of Pythias Muir Lodge 136, Tamalpais Coast Post No. 72 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sons in Retirement and San Rafael Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Emma G. Brooks and a son, Lloyd K. Brooks both of the home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael. Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
