STARRING B. WINFIELD
Starring Brooks Winfield, 22 year old son of Mrs. Harry S. Sanborn, and stepson of Colonel Sanborn, of San Rafael, is listed as “missing” by the U. S. Navy.
This was contained in a message to Winfield’s bride of three months, residing in Berkeley with her mother, Mrs. A. L. Walker, and grandmother, Mrs. E. P. Hailey.
Winfield was with the fleet when attacked at Pearl Harbor, serving as a radioman.
He was a graduate of San Rafael High School and Marin Junior College.
He enlisted in the Navy 15 months ago and Sept. 23, this year, he married his childhood sweetheart at Reno.
Besides his parents, Winfield had two sisters, Mrs. Joyce Walker, wife of David Walker III, and Miss Meryl Winfield.
