Hamilton Field Soldier Dies At Wheel of Auto

Armany J. Vincent, 20 year old private of Hamilton Field, whose home is at Antioch, was killed early Monday morning north of Novato when he drove his car into a lumber truck.

Robert C. Mathias, 20, also of the Air Base, with Vincent, suffered but slight injuries.

Investigating officials learned that Vincent was driving at great speed, apparently lost control and went across the highway, striking the truck and trailer near the coupling.

The car was thrown on its side and slid along the highway for some distance. Vincent was taken from the back seat of the car where he had been thrown from the impact.

Mathias told officials he had boarded the car at Petaluma and was asleep when the accident happened.

Driver of the Diamond Match Co. truck was George A. Lowry of Chico.

Mathias and Lowry were questioned by Deputy Corner Frank Keaton, and were immediately released.

Vincent leaves his father, Adelino Pincent (sic) of Antioch. He was attached to the 35th Pursuit Group at Hamilton Field, having enlisted in April. Arrangements for the funeral at Antioch were made by the Guy W. Jenness mortuary, San Anselmo.
