SALLY L. SLENKIN
A memorial service for Sally L. Slenkin, a longtime resident of Greenbrae, will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 27 at Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
She died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1988, at Marin General Hospital after a brief illness. She was 60.
She was born in Evanston, Ill., and was raised in Wilmette, Ill.
She graduated from Culver Stockton College in Canton, Mo. She moved to San Francisco in 1955 and to Greenbrae in 1971.
She worked in commercial banking in San Francisco, where she met her future husband, Alex Slenkin.
Mrs. Slenkin was the manager of the Laurel House antique shop at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross. She also was a member of the Art and Garden Center.
She was a past president of the Decoration Guild and past vice president of the Northgate Group, both are volunteer groups in the Art and Garden Center.
She also served as president of the Ballet Aquacade of Marin, and was active in local art and antique associations and other community groups.
Survivors are her husband, Alex Slenkin of Greenbrae; two daughters, Barbara Anderson of Petaluma and Kathryn Slenkin of Mill Valley; a sister, Joan Basile of Woodstock, Ill.; her father, Harold L. Brown, also of Woodstock.
The family prefers memorial gifts to the Marin Art and Garden Center memorial fund.
