CLARENCE J. GREEN

Clarence J. Green of Santa Rosa, a former Petaluma businessman and tugboat captain, died Saturday at a Santa Rosa hospital after a long illness. He was 68.

Mr. Green was born and reared in Sebastopol. He lived in San Francisco before moving to Petaluma, where he spent most of his life.

At one time, he owned and operated Green’s Sweeping Co. in Petaluma.

Mr. Green also worked 25 years as a tugboat captain for Crowley Maritime in San Francisco. He retired 10 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Annabell Green of Santa Rosa; a daughter, Anneice Capurro of Santa Rosa; two stepsons, Jesse Amaral Jr. and Joseph Amaral, both of Petaluma; two stepdaughters, Barbara Nelson of Petaluma and Theresa Doss of Santa Rosa; a sister, Eugenia Sowden of Petaluma; a brother, James Green of Red Bluff; and nine grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma. Recitation of the rosary will be today at 8 p.m. at the mortuary.

Private inurnment will be in Cypress Hill Memorial Park in Petaluma.

The family prefers that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 255 Hugo St., San Francisco, 94122.
