Mary T. Soares Of Mill Valley Dies
Mrs. Mary T. Soares, 74, a Mill Valley resident for seven years, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Saturday at 448 E. Blithedale avenue, where she made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Mary Armas.
Mrs. Soares was the widow of Manuel T. Soares, known as one of the leading growers of the famous Turlock watermelons. He resided in Mill Valley following his retirement, until his death in March 1956.
Mrs. Soares was born in Hayward, but spent most of her life at Turlock.
Besides Mrs. Armas, she leaves two other daughters and a son, Mrs. Belle Leandro of Mill Valley, Mrs. Anna Furtado of Pacific Grove and Joseph C. Soares of Turlock; a sister, Mrs. F. Silveira of Newman, Stanislaus County; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Requiem will be offered Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Turlock. The funeral cortege will form at 9 a.m. at the Allen Mortuary in Turlock, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Interment will be in Turlock Cemetery. Harry M. Williams Mortuary, San Rafael, is handling funeral arrangements locally.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that she was the grandmother of Velma Storm, Arthur and Alvin Leandro, Dalinda and Mary Louise Furtado.
