JAMES M. THOMSON

Back in days when the clippers sailed the four seas, James Murdock Thomson left his home in Scotland for adventure on the ocean, and for about ten years he sailed from port to port seeing the world at first hand.

Many were the times the canny Scotsman would sit back and recall the days of his youth when he took part in a rebellion of one of the South American republics, but those days are over for James Thomson. He died Monday in a local hospital.

After his sea career Thomson became a bridge builder in San Francisco, and while engaged in this work, for which he was famous, he used to come to Inverness for relaxation. However, some twenty-five years ago he came to the little town to settle for the rest of his life.

Funeral services, which were attended by his many Marin county friends, were held yesterday (Wednesday) at the Keaton Mortuary in San Rafael, interment was private.

Thomson, who was eighty-three, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Thomson, of the Marin County Welfare department, and a step-daughter, Helen Bowhay.
