Young Woman Killed By Manor Electric
A tragic ending of a day of pleasure came to Miss Rose Herbert of 453 Twenty-ninth street, San Francisco, Tuesday evening when the young woman was struck by a south-bound Manor train at Larkspur and almost instantly killed.
Miss Herbert and her fiancé, Thomas Maloney, had spent the day with friends in Larkspur. They had started for the station to return to the city and arrived as the train pulled in. Miss Herbert and Maloney, according to the reports of bystanders, stepped across the tracks and, failing to see the approaching Manor train, the young lady was struck and hurled several feet. Dr. Lester Newman was summoned, but the injured woman died in a few moments. The fatality was witnessed by a large number of people waiting to take the train. Maloney barely escaped being struck. The couple were to have been married within a [short] time. Coroner Sawyer took charge of the remains and will hold an inquest.
