KRESTEN HVASS
Wince industry executive
Kresten Hvass of Greenbrae, a long-time wine industry executive, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1990, at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco after a prolonged illness. He was 54.
Mr. Hvass was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and lived in the United States for many years before moving to Marin in 1974. He resided in Kentfield before moving to Greenbrae.
He worked in marketing and sales for the wine industry and was well known to many people in the beverage and hospitality business. He had also worked with the Carlsberg Brewing Co. in Denmark and opened the U.S. market in the 1960s. Inhis work, Mr. Hvass traveled all over the world.
He is survived by his wife, Mia Hvass, and a son, Kristian Hvass.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 27 at the Marin Lutheran Church in Corte Madera. His ashes will be scattered at sea in a private ceremony.
The family prefers that contributions be made to a trust account for his 12-year-old son or to the Kidney Foundation.
