SYLVIA I. KLAPAK

A memorial service will be held for Sylvia Iva Klapak of San Anselmo at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in San Anselmo.

Mrs. Klapak died of an apparent heart attack at her home Friday, Feb. 17, 1989. She was 84.

Mrs. Klapak was born in Kansas.

She attended Washington University School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for many years.

She married Andrew Klapak in 1931 and traveled extensively with him during his military service.

She had been recently elected president of the Presbyterian Women of the First Presbyterian Church of San Anselmo.

Mrs. Klapak served as a church school superintendent. She was a member of the Wednesday Bible Study and a regular volunteer in the church office.

“She was known for her generosity to San Francisco Theological Seminary students and other worthy causes,” said her daughter Karolyn Roberson. She was also a supporter of the Marin Symphony.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Klapak is survived by a son, Michael Klapak of Gold Hill, Oregon; two sisters, Hallie Carlstein of San Bruno and Goldie Coleman of Joplin, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

Her husband, Andrew, died previously.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, 72 Kensington Road, San Anselmo.
