JULIETTE KNOWLTON
Requiem Mass for Juliette Knowlton, 81, a French teacher at the Katharine Branson School in Ross from 1927 to 1958, will be offered Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Anselm Catholic Church, San Anselmo.
Mrs. Knowlton died Saturday in a Sebastopol hospital following a long illness.
A native of Algeria, she moved to Marin County in 1922. She was educated in France and taught school there and in London before marrying William M. Knowlton in 1919. He died in 1964.
Mrs. Knowlton lived at 119 Barber Avenue, San Anselmo, before moving to Sebastopol last year.
During World War II she organized American relief for France in Marin County.
Survivors are a daughter, Noelle Lundquint, and a son, William N. Knowlton, both of Sebastopol; two sisters, Noel Marcon and Jeanne Dufour, both of France; and four grandchildren.
Recitation of the Rosary will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Analy Funeral Chapel, Sebastopol. Interment will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
