LANITA LANE
Art educator
Lanita Lane of Mill Valley, a longtime artist and teacher, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 1990, at home after a long battle with cancer. She was 87.
Mrs. Lane was born in Grand Junction, Colo., and moved to California with her family as a high school student. She attended San Francisco State College, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
She had a long career as an art educator, teaching and consulting both in San Francisco and Sacramento. She moved to Mill Valley five years ago.
Mrs. Lane was also known as a dress designer, puppeteer and singer.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Don L. Jewett of Mill Valley; and three children (sic).
A private service was held. Arrangements were handled by the Russell & Gooch Mortuary in Mill Valley.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the Rosenbaum/Benz Fund, Cancer Research Institute, University of California at San Francisco, 94143.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that she was the mother-in-law of Virginia H. Meyer of Mill Valley, and grandmother of Leah L. Jewett of Paris, France, Bethany Z. Jewett of New York City and Michael J. Morris of Philadelphia.
