Dr. Carl F. Larson

Dr. Carl F. Larson, a Sausalito resident and practicing physician in Marin County since 1919, died on Thursday, November 29 following a short illness. He was 93.

Dr. Larson, a native of Oregon, received a medical degree from the University of Oregon Medical School in 1913. He served as an intern at St. Luke's Hospital in San Francisco then traveled to England to join the British Royal Medical Corps.

He returned to the U.S. in 1917 to join the Army medical corps but the armistice was signed before he was sent back to Europe.

In 1919, he moved to Sausalito to become staff physician for the Northwestern Pacific Railroad.

Dr. Larson worked as a physician until retiring in 1970. He had cared for Marin City residents from the time the area was developed during World War II and he was on the staff of the old Cottage Hospital in Marin and Ross General Hospital. He also was on the staff of St. Joseph's and French hospitals in San Francisco.

He was a member of the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association and the Marin Medical Society.

Surviving are his with, Edith Larson; a daughter, Vivian Eliachar, and two grandchildren.

The family prefers memorial donations to a private charity.
