HENRY VON DER HEIDE

A private graveside service will be held for Henry Von Der Heide of Santa Rosa, a former Fairfax police captain and acting chief and fire chief.

He died Monday, July 11, 1988, at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was 81.

He was born in Petaluma.

Mr. Von Der Heide had lived in Santa Rosa since 1976. Before that, he lived in San Anselmo for 21 years.

He was the fire chief in Fairfax for 10 years before joining the Air Force during World War II.

After getting out of the service, he joined the Fairfax police department, where he worked as an officer, captain and acting chief. In all, he worked for the city of Fairfax for 27 years.

After leaving police work when he was 56, he joined the Humane Society in Sonoma County, where he worked for 7 1/2 years.

He belonged to the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 200 of Marin County.

Survivors are his wife, Floriene Von Der Heide of Santa Rosa; a son, Robert Nunes of Santa Rosa; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
