Friends Pay Last Respect to Memory of Egerton Smith

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock from the Keaton Mortuary with internment at Mt. Tamalpais cemetery for Egerton Smith of Tamalpais Valley. Mr. Smith (also known as Walter E. Smith) passed away Monday morning at a local hospital following a long illness.

He was a native of England and is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edith Keenan and one son, Lionel E. Smith of San Francisco, three sisters, Irene and Hilda Smith of Sausalito and Mrs. Daley Cooper of Honolulu and a brother Lionel D. Smith of San Rafael.

Egerton Smith was a member of a family of musicians. His father was organist of St. Paul’s Church for many years, his sisters hold choir positions in Sausalito and Edgerton (sic) was tenor soloist of the First Presbyterian Church here and a member of several Masonic quartettes in the bay district; also soloist at Grace Cathedral, St. Luke’s and San Francisco Synagogue.

For the was (sic) fourteen years Mr. Smith was employed at the New Method Laundry in Sausalito.
