Sad Death of a San Rafael Girl

Elsa Lietz, the fourteen year old daughter of Adolph and Agusta Lietz of this city, died at the California Women’s Hospital in San Francisco last Sunday night. The death followed an operation for appendicitis. The funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian church in this city yesterday and were largely attended by many friends of the family including young schoolmates of the deceased. Rev. Dr. James officiated and delivered an eloquent sermon. The interment took place in the Odd Fellows cemetery in San Francisco in the afternoon. She was a native of San Rafael, aged 14 years, 7 months and 12 days.

Death in this case was entirely unexpected as the victim had never known a days illness and was exceedingly robust. When she was stricken, no time was lost and she was taken to the hospital where all was done that medical skill could accomplish, to save her life.

Mr. Leitz (sic) is well known here and is prominent in local affairs, being treasurer of the Southside Improvement Club. The family residence is on Ross Terrace, at the head of Ross street. Mr. Lietz and his family have the sympathy of all who know them.
