Alejandra Pedley Is Dead At 73

Alejandra Macondray Pedley, wife of Eric Leader Pedley, former mayor of Belvedere, died at home yesterday after along illness. She was 73.

She had lived in Marin for the past 20 years in the family home at 7 Edgewater Road, Belvedere.

Her husband was elected to the Belvedere City Council in 1954 and became mayor in 1957.

Her two great-grandfathers, Faxon Dean Atherton and Frederick W. Macondray, were early pioneers who settled in San Francisco in the 1840s. She was a native of San Francisco.

She was a lifelong Red Cross volunteer and had logged more than 8,000 hours of service in the Santa Ana Army Air Base Hospital in Orange County, Ross Hospital and Sonoma State Hospital.

She also is survived by three daughters, Katherine Gaspar of Santa Barbara, Jane Vorhees of Albany and Alejandra Hernan of Belvedere; a son, Eric Atherton Pedley of San Francisco and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo. Burial will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.

The family prefers memorial contributions to Guide Dogs for the Blind.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds information: she was survived by 2 great-grandchildren; she was the niece of Mrs. Harry C. Hunt of Pebble Beach, and cousin of Mrs. Marshall Madison of San Francisco and Mrs. Herman Phleger of Woodside.
