MARIA FRANCESCHI
Fairfax resident
Services are tomorrow for Maria Franceschi of Fairfax. She died of heart failure Jan. 25 in Marin General Hospital. She was 86.
She was born in Italy in 1907.
Her first job was at age 5, working as a servant to a pharmacist’s family. Later she worked in a pharmacy.
Her husband, Aladino Franceschi, died earlier.
She moved to Marin County 35 years ago.
She worked in the S&W cannery, for Levi Strauss and in a cigar factory. She enjoyed gardening and shared her harvests. She loved to entertain and cook.
She was a member of the Italian Federation and St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Fairfax.
She is survived by her daughters, Derna Cesaretti and Donna Brydon, both of San Anselmo; a sister, Yolanda Cesaretti of Italy; and six grandchildren.
The funeral begins at 10:45 a.m. tomorrow at Chapel of the Hills, 330 Red Hill Ave., San Anselmo, then proceeds to St. Rita’s Church for an 11 a.m. Mass. Private burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.
Visitation starts at 4 p.m. today and a vigil service starts tonight at 7:30 in the mortuary.
