IDELLE G. FAURE
Ex-Kentfield resident
Burial is Sunday in Colma for former Kentfield resident and community volunteer Idelle Faure. She died Jan. 20 in Roswell, Ga. She was 90.
She lived in Marin County for more than 60 years. She was president of the B’nai B’rith Marin County Tamar Chapter in 1968.
She kept up her volunteer work until four years ago, when she moved to a retirement community in Georgia to be near her daughter.
For more than a decade she volunteered at the Marindale School for Orthopedically Handicapped Children, and she told the Independent Journal in 1980 she enjoyed every minute she spent there.
“When you get older, you have a tendency to get into yourself, begin feeling sorry for yourself,” said Faure.
“I tell my friends all the time, ‘Think outward instead of inward. You should be our helping others instead of staying home worrying about yourselves,’” she said.
She volunteered in the Kentfield PTA. She also helped with the Camp Fire Girls.
She enjoyed the outdoors, camping and touring in a trailor. She also liked to entertain and cook for her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Martell Bartlett; a sister, Estelle McClure of Mountain View; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Her husband, Elie Faure, and a son, Elie G. Faure, died earlier.
Burial is Sunday at 10 a.m. in the Hills of Eternity Memorial Park in Colma. Contributions may be sent to B’nai B’rith Women, c/o Marlene Scherer, 63 Capilano Drive, Novato, 94949.
