Sidney Foy, Fairfax City Treasurer, New Lions President Dies Of Heart Attack As Mother En Route For Visit
Sidney S. Foy, Fairfax city treasurer and recently elected president of the Fairfax Lions club, died suddenly at his home this morning following a heart attack.
Foy, who operated a typewriter sales and service business in addition to serving the city, also was president of the Fairfax City Planning Commission.
Funeral arrangements are in the hands of Guy W. Jenness and Co., San Anselmo and will be announced later. The arrangements are delayed pending locating of Foy’s mother, Mrs. Nettie Foy, who is somewhere enroute from Ontario, Can., to visit her son.
Foy, 55, and a veteran of World War I, came to Fairfax in 1935 and started operation of his business. He took a keen interest in civic and community affairs and in 1937 was named city treasurer to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. Mary L. Jordan, who had resigned to become postmaster in Fairfax.
In 1938 he was elected for his first full four-year term and was re-elected in 1940.
He is survived by his widow Mrs. Lois A. Foy, a brother, Chelsea Foy of Manistee, Mich., and his mother who now resides in Ontario, Can
