ROMA WARREN BLOOM

Roma Warren Bloom, a resident of San Rafael since 1987, died of lung cancer July 31. She was 81.
Mrs. Bloom, a native of New York City, had been a volunteer for various community organizations at both the local and national level since the 1940s.
In Marin County she was on the board of the Women’s Division of the Jewish Federation and was a volunteer for Jewish Family and Children’s Services’ Senior companionship Program, Readers in the Schools and the Jewish Family and Children’s Services PAC. She also served on the board of Villa Marin, her retirement community.
While a resident of Passaic, N.J., she was a founding member of the New Jersey section of the National Council of Jewish Women and was a member of the National Jewish Welfare board. While living in Palo Alto, she played a key role in the creation of the Albert Schulz Center of the Jewish Community Center.
She was a graduate of Montclair Teachers College in New Jersey and taught school in Nutley, N.J.
She is survived by her son, Michael Bloom of Lagunitas; daughter, Ruth Bloom Davis of Tucson, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Villa Marin, 100 Thorndale Ave., San Rafael, Apartment 234, on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
The family is very grateful to Hospice of Marin and asks that any donations be made to that organization or Jewish Family and Children’s Services.
